questions about the Max Econ tune from Spartan

I downloaded a number of tunes from the archive last weekend, and uploaded the Aggressive Tow tune and Max Econ tune to my X3. I used the AT tune over the weekend and liked how it shifted and how it performed. I loaded the ME tune on Wednesday night and performed a trans relearning session.

I notice that the ME tune shifts very quick on light (less than 1/4) throttle. It will shift at around 2200 rpms and go through every gear landing in high gear by 60 kph. This seems to be good for economy because the rpms will go right down while cruising in town. At WOT (3/4 to full throttle) it seems to shift like other tunes at 3000+ rpms and man you are moving.

But I am having trouble at part throttle (1/4 to 3/4), the trans goes crazy, the rpms jump up and down and the whole truck shakes when it shifts a gear. It is like it wants to shift at 2000 then decides wait I should shift at 3000 then no 2000...

My strategy is VXCF4.

So my questions are:

Is this normal? (probably not)
Do I need to relearn how to drive? I suppose I could putt around at less than 1/4 throttle which would be good for fuel economy, not so good for EGR valves, VGT vanes etc.

Any help or comments would be appreciated.

I have driven this tune some more, mostly because I have some issues with my X3 and can not retune the truck. That is another story.

I am wondering if I am correct in my observations of this tune:
1. The tunes main goal is to try and keep the truck at 2000 to 2250 rpms (peak torque).
2. at less than 1/4 throttle it will shift at 2250.
3. at more than 1/4 throttle it will hold the gear past 2250 but once it shifts it wants to shift one more time to get back to 2000 - 2250. This causes the truck to shake.

One thing I will say, because it accelerates so hard at 3/4 to WOT and shakes so bad due to the double shift at 1/4 to 3/4 throttle, you sure do save money on fuel driving around at 1/4 throttle or less.

Shifts between 1/4 and 3/4 throttle are pretty bad for me as well, which is why I won't run the Max Econ tune any more. From what I've read a lot of people experienced this. I've decided to just stick with ASE which has great shifting and gets good economy if I keep my foot out of it. Hybrid Race should get even better economy (some say better than MaxEcon) but for me it shifted erratic and my foot seemed heavy

I think once I straighten out my x3 problem, (lost my stock tune, arghh) I will try the ASE tune. I think that my driving style has already changed from using this tune for just a week. I am new to the tuning scene and I used to try and get into the boost when it was stock whenever there was enough room on the road. With the Max Econ tune, you can only do that by going WOT and that means you need lots of room or you need to be on the highway.

I've been running the mild street economy for about a week.
If you havent tried it,It wouldn't hurt.I found it better..IMO.

After the tranny learned its thing, the truck runs pretty good!
Shift points are pretty good. There was some erratic 2-3,3-4
shifts during the learning process, but it's much better now.

I can say this tune has given me my best mileage so far.

EDIT: I run the same strategy code as well.

I liked the MSE tune as well, but I think ASE has more advanced timing so the mileage should be a little better if I stay out of it. All tunes have weird 2-3 and 3-5 shifts until it learns, ASE has the best shifting for me of any I've tried though. Weird note, ASE doesn't feel any more powerful than MSE for me, in face I think I broke the tires loose more with MSE.
