You have to remove door panel to get to wiring plug. Door panel only takes a few minutes to remove.

Like Robin said, super easy. Bolts behind the sail panel for mirror removal and plug in the door panel if you have power mirrors.

Thanks for the link showing how to remove the door panel-thats great!! are there more nuts/bolts that must be removed from inside the door (with the panel removed) to be able to remove the mirror?? I have taken 2 nuts off from under the rubber-plugged holes, and 1 smaller nut that was inside the sail panel but the mirror is still tight.....there is something inside the center plugged hole that I first thought was anouther nut, but its something else & I can't quite figure out what it is???? THANKS!!

There are 5 nuts total, 1 gray and 4 gold. 4 plugs need to be removed. Under the smaller center plug is what held the mirror while on the assembly line until mirror was fully installed.

I guess I didn't remember correctly. That does sound right now. Been a long time since I pulled mine off. Thanks Robin for putting it right.

Barry,

It was fresh in my mind because I just went outside and pulled all the plugs and noticed the 5th nut up high. Had I done this a month ago I wouldn't be sure.

Edit: Hell, a week ago I wouldn't be sure.

Wink

I have cleaned my glasses and gone and looked at BOTH SIDES again and I can only see 3 rubber plugs on my '99.
Like I said before I have removed the 2 nuts from under the upper and lower plugs, and removed the sail panel and removed the smaller gray nut there.
I have not removed my door panel yet, nor have I tried to pry or pursuade my mirror off yet because I feel that I should unplug the mirrors wireing so when it does come loose I can just pull it completely off the door.
Is there anouther rubber plug that is exposed when I remove the door panel??
THANKS!!

Just don't drop those gold nuts... don't ask me how much of a pain it is to fish them out of the door.
