hard start when hot

i have about a 75 460 the mods are headers, alluminum wiend intake, 750 holley, pre smog timming chain set, 1000cca battery, new wires, new built starter,
and when the motor temp gets to around 180 if i shut the truck off it does not want to start. now heres the thing the PO put a unknown cam in the truck he said he cant find the cam card so i have no clue what it is alll i know is its from paw that what he told me.
anyways moving on i messed with the timming because it would back fire through the carb and it was a DOG so i advanced the timing and wow it changed everthing.
the rattle under load i had went away and the backfiring under wot was gone but now even after fine tunning it it still it still dousnt want to start and the balancer spun so i cant get the timing numbers for yall but i have found the sweet spot where the motor runs the best
o and the dizzy is a mallory unilight mech advance dizzy no vac.

You need a timing light and set your timing properly. You also need to check the damper for having slipped and moved the timing marks, so TDC the motor and check the marks. FYI, setting timing like you did is asking for a hole in a piston.

i do have a timing light and yes i KNOW the damper has slipped.i was just trying to make it run right untill i got the money to fix it the right way. i was lookin at a few dampers so what would be the right size? and most dampers now are 3 bolt so i would need a crank pulley.
