What exactly is it that fails on this blend door? Is there some kind of material failure over time? What part fails and why does it fail? What should we be looking for in prep for the failure, assuming that it does eventually fail?

Material breaks where the shaft from the actuator goes into the blend door. It must get old and brittle. On the ones I have done pieces of plastic fall out when the actuator is removed.

Oh, thanks. Sounds like poor material. I guess I can see then where that replacement the guy has with a metal shaft could probably outlast the truck. I guess I'll get one in case mine breaks. Thanks.
