Help under valve cover harness burnt.

This morning after leaving breakfast I statrted my 95 stock PSD and it fired up and after one or two second of running the engine light came on and the truck immediatly started running like it was only running on a few cylinders. It drove home but was very under powered. the engine light comes on a second or two after it is started. It runs fine for that first second or two. I put a code scanner on it and it would not pull any codes. the engine light only comes on when it is running. I started some research and came up with checking the under valve cover harnesses. the outer plugs on the passenger side had 1 pin in the front and one in the rear burnt up. The one closest to the front of the motor and the one closest to the rear of the motor. I replaced the burnt pins and put in new glowplugs in the passenger side of the motor. Now it is running worse. It does still run fine for the first second or two. I did not see if it is still burning the wires as it is now to dark and late.

Any ideas guys

The actual wiring my be burnt under the valve covers. Might be a good idea to pull the VC's and see what's going on under there.

Did you replace both the male and female parts of the VCH?

All of the connections need to be inspected as individuals. Close inspection will turn up either burned Pinsor Sockets. Some forum members have discovered problem areas with the harness its self.

The gasket has pins that go through it and should be changed as well and if the plug on the outside was burnt chances are the uvc plug is melted as well probably looks like this

Thanks

Hey I replaced the inner harnesses on the passenger side, the VC gasket, and the plugs on the passenger side. Drivers looks good. I picked up the only plugs I could find Autolite. Are they as bad as every one says. I will probably replace the other side plugs in a month or so and i guess I could throw down some more cash to get the autolites out if they are as bad as everyone says

Thanks for all the info
Keep on trukin
