ok, i need some advice.

well my truck needs new injectors, so im wandering how far behind the hpop, and trans. is to needing replaced. if it where just injectors i would do it but if i have to drop $2000 for hpop and $2500 on a trans soon, i will just trade it off. the truck has 220,000 mi on it and i don't know if the trans. has ever been changed? looks like not but i don't know. any advice on what i should do would help. i don't know how many more mi this stuff is gona last.

thanks

one way to get a little idea if trans has much repair is pull torque conver inspection plate
if torque has a drain plug and not been painted it very ell could be origional, and no trans work done
Replacement torques are normally painted and no drain plug
As far as the engine guess it's a roll of the dice,if properly maintained have been know to go a lot more miles than that with no problems

well mine is a 2000 with 260,00 mi. on her and she still got the original HPOP going strong. the trans is a manual so it'll last a lil longer than an auto... as for injectors its still got the stock size as of original not sure....doutful though.... if i was you i would have the HPOP checked to see how much pressure it is putting out compared to stock ratings and if its near that, i say she still got some life as for the trans that mainly depends on how you drive, what you haul, ect. like me an auto prolly wouldn't last me NO TIME before i shredded it up...there as also things you can do to your stock auto to beef it up and help the longivity process stretch out ther a good distance....bts valve body, john wood valve body, ect. i'm sure somebody else will chime in soon that knos a lil more then i do.

HPOP does not run $2,000 unless you take it somewhere and pay a ridiculous labor fee.

Is your avatar a picture of your truck?
Used for business?
Have you looked into the cost of a new truck and asked an accountant about how to amortize it?

IMO, If you just need injectors, It is easy enough. You can do yourself. Not that bad of a job. As far as the rest of the stuff failing. There are no guarantees. Maybe tomorrow, maybe ten years from now. if you Hpop Is working now and there isn't any tranny problems i would just change out injectors. Why do you say you need new ones? Unless you get a brand spanking new truck, the next used truck might be more trouble than the one you have now. Just my thoughts..

They will sometimes put a tag on the side of the tranny that says Remanufactured.

As for your other concerns, it's a roll of the dice. A newer used truck could have more or less problems. I'm still running my stock injectors & HPOP at 269k. Like Ryan, my stock 6 speed experience won't help you much.

well i just changed the injector o-rings a few months ago b/c it was smoking blue and using oil. and all was fine till last weekend when i was on the road and lost power, i pulled over to a gas station to use the restroom and check it out and when i came back from the rr there was fuel coming out of the up pipe. so the injector(s) were just dumping fuel. and now this weekend something else let loose and pumped all my oil into my fuel tank. so i think the hpo is getting past the pistons in the injectors. b/c it's not smoking like it was when the o-rings where bad, thats y i think it's in the injectors.

put in a set of single shots stage one injectors for $1300...you will need a DP tuner or TW chip to run them or send your PCM in to jody or tony and for 75 bucks they will flash a tune on there to run them..the injectors alone give you 30 to 50 more HP and use less HPO then the stock injectors..no new HPOP needed..HP gains isnt that high so it shouldnt hurt the trans unless it was on its way out any ways..but to feel safer about the trans..if oil looks good and clean and smells fine..get a BTS VB or John Woods VB to put in it and tell both JODY/TW and BTS/JW and they will make the tunes and VB work together...

no problem....glad i could help..couple of things to keep in mind..your truck will rattle a little more..will sound almost like the OBS trucks..all though not a must have but recomended would be a regulated return or the CCK kit and the in tank Mod kit from ITP..these together will make it quiter and the injectors last longer..it takes 99% of the air out of the fuel system..good luck and keep us posted...
