crunching sounds diagnosed/repaired - Thanks!

Just wanted to say thanks for your interest and information regarding my '95 Ranger 4x4 and the sounds I was hearing. I finally took the truck to the shop because it had developed a high pitched squeel like the brakes were dragging. At the same time I mentioned the problems I have been having with the four wheel drive.

Turns out the two problems were related. Repacking the wheel bearings on one side, and replacing the automatic hubs solved all problems I have been experiencing. Several of you mentioned these things, so I was prepared for the bad news.

But there is more... The head mechanic that took my truck for a test drive thought that it was driving a little rough. Upon inspection on the hoist, he found that the motor mounts were twisted. Which brings me to my next question: "How exactly does a person twist motor mounts!?"

I am kinda getting a feeling about this truck. The good news is that everything was covered by our extended warranty.

Thanks again for helping out.
