1956 F 100 color codes

Guys and Gals,
A friend just bought a restored 56'F100. It's Green and supposedly original color, the ID plate on the door sill says W. Anybody know what W stands for?
Thanks...
Jeff

It appears that 'W' is second production year, month of September according to the chart at:

Jeff,
I also have a '56 with a color code of "W". The original color is a light pastel green. I searched for a long time before an "old crusty painter" at one of paint stores recommended I look at the '57 colors. "W" is shown on the '57 car color chip page as "Springmist Green" and also includes an asterisk indicating it is a "56 spring color". The old guy said that at the end of a production run they would paint the trucks with whatever they had onhand. I've seen two other trucks with the "W" color code, but both were in such sad shape (missing windows and fenders) that original paint was difficult to find. If you PM me your e-mail address I wll send some scans of the paint chip pages from 57 from Ditzler/PPG.
Good Luck!

Mine is a 56 with the "W" color code as well. Definately a light pastel green which I have seen described as Springmist Green. My truck was assembled in October of 55, btw.

What was I looking at?

Whoa. Total brain fog there. The 'W' I thought about at first isn't even in the color code section. Must have been a senior moment.

Looking at my truck data plate the color on it is marked 'G TAN". The floor boards still have some of the original 'Meadow Mist Green' on them so I know that part is correct. Where does the 'Tan' come from? Does that refer to the interior or was the truck 2-toned?
