Depends on how high it was. Excessive idling or lots of short trips where it doesn't warm up fully can cause this, otherwise it can be an injector o-ring or possibly other injector problems.
CHRIS: The flashpoint of this oil was very low. We determine fuel dilution by the flashpoint and at this level it shows 7.5% of the sample was fuel (it should be 1-2%). Additives can lower the flashpoint and we see that you've used one. When we find this much fuel in a sample, though, it tends to dilute our wear readings. You can see that for
an oil run 4,000 miles wear was very low. Universal averages are based on an oil run of ~5,000 miles. Be sure to keep an eye on your oil level. If you notice an increase or smell diesel, then you can be sure a problem exists. Check back to monitor.
i did notice a few times 3-7 times these few mon the engine statred really fast hot/cold as soon as it cranked over. acted like a small engine i work on if you shoot either into the sparkplug hold and it fires right up in 1/2 sec.
I just got my report last night and the told me the same thing. I have fuel in the oil as a result I have excessive iron, lead and zinc which means piston wear and bearing wear. I have no idea on what to do next to fix the problem.
I will try to post my report this afternoon
i going to kenny ross ford in irwin tomorrow what should i tell them or show them, my oil level is going up, i smell diesel fuel, while driving? any hints or suggestions that would point in the right direction, if it is a leaking injector how can they tell which one? will the hook the comp up to or check/inspect each injector?
Since you are within the warranty period, contacting the dealer is the best option. Bring them the oil analysis report.
My guess is that they will want to do an oil analysis after you get a few miles on the truck after an oil change. I believe that Ford's limit for fuel dilution is 6%.
