I have an 02 f-350, My questions are what does my programmer accually alter in the running of my truck and if I leave it in the Economy level 60 hp. will it harm my truck in any way. The differince is Day and Night from stock and I love it. I have a Diablosport Predator
Without contacting Diablosport themselves, getting a straightforward answer of what they actually changed in the tuning is anyone's guess. There are TYPICAL things that generic programmers change and then there are the little things that custom-tuners change that make a lot of difference.
As far as hurting your truck:
Stock trucks fail. It's anyone's guess as to how long ANYTHING will last, modified or not. Typically, the nicer you are to your vehicle, the longer it will last.
The 4R100 tranny is pretty much the acknowledged weak point of our drivetrain. The more power you try to put to the ground the shorter your slush box's life. That also goes for how you treat it too like cleatus12r said. Everything makes a difference and it's different for everybody. Nobody has the same priority level or wallet size so it's a choice you'll have to make as to how much power you want to put through the stock 4R100 to try and move your 7000lb sports car...

OK, I need to make this clear before I start. I am NOT "bashing" Diablosport. I will give you my experience FWIW.
On my Excursion, I ran the 60 economy. Good pick up, but no increase in mileage as per their claim. I averaged 17.1 mpg on their 60 E tune, and 17.4 stock. After watching their forum, and the lack of support for the 7.3 diesels I saw, I pulled the trigger on a DP Tuner. I did a 5300 mile trip from California to Indiana and back, using the 80 E tune. I was averaging 75-80 mph. Of course, going thru National Parks and around town driving on the way (1 day in Tulsa; 5 days in Indiana) takes its' toll on mileage numbers, but I averaged 17.99 mpg.
If you like the 60 E tune from DS, you will LOVE the 80 E tune on DP Tuner. It compares favorably (IMO) to the 100 HP tune from DS as far as acceleration and power, yet is a helluva lot queter on injector noise.
I don't abuse my Ex, and AFIK, my trans is stock. I have run the DS and DP tunes since I bought it ~11 months ago. I have put 17000 miles so far, and I don't know how long the PO ran the DS, but I am guessing a minimum of 30000 miles. No problems to date.
Don't abuse it, keep it maintained, you should be fine.
Welcome to FTE. Hang around here and you will find out the most around here have or want to have a DP-Tuner. A few run Tony Wildman chips and they are great as well. I am sort of like Don above. I had a Super Chips and thought I was happy until I pulled the trigger on a DP. Now I have a Super Chips code reader and real tuner. As far as harming your truck, any power modifactions can hurt any engine if you push the limits all the time. With my DP, I feel the engine works much less to make the same power so that would seem like that's better. Now, when I try to push the go pedal through the floorboard and let the black smoke roll, that's probably not all that good, but is sure is fun.
If you really want to see a night/day differance, make the jump to DP-Tuners (link in my sig).
i believe that your D/S will turn up the line pressure to the pump and play w/ the setting to the trans to firm it up.(like my superchips ) now the attitude from edge playes w/that and also the timeing to give you more hp
IMO JUST RUNNIT but if your going for more hp
The Predator does have a setting to increase the line pressure to the tranny. You can make it stock, firm, or very hard. I think the hard setting is a bit much for a stock tranny. I leave mine at stock but I have an upgraded valve body in the tranny that does this mechanically. 60hp on the predator is pretty mild, but I hope you have an intake, exhaust and gauges. The 60hp can get a little warm on the egt's if you leave your foot in it and the truck is stock.
Im with Barry on this. I too once had a superchips programmer. I thought it was the best thing since sliced bread. Thought it had great power and did wonders for my truck. I was terribly wrong. Not bashing superchips, but the DP Tuner made the superchip look like child's play. The superchip could not hold its own against any of the DP's settings. You will soon find out, if you haven't already, that the DP is what you are looking for.
