V-8 to V-10 Engine Swap

Does any one know of a facility that would be familiar with swapping the 5.4 l V-8 out of my 06 F-350, and putting in a 6.8l V-10? Someplace maybe in the NE part of the country? Thanks for the help!

You got a bead on a 3V V10, do ya?

I imagine any shop that has the ability to do engine swap could do it. It seems like a fairly easy swap.

Basically, I'd think changing the PCM and it's harness going to the engine would do it.

I'd review the EVTM for differences first though... The things that come to mind, especially with the 3-valvers would be the cam phaser for the 5.4 is missing for the V10, and the variable plenum for the V10, not sure if they do exactly the same thing with the 5.4.

As for a shop that would WANT to do it? Nope

And the trans is a bit different. The 5.4L trans has less clutch plates than the 6.8L trans. You might want to rebuild the trans to the 6.8L specs to make sure it lasts.

I hate this, why don't they put in as many clutch plates as possible? I can't imagine a few clutch discs making a huge cost difference. Even the diesel tranny has room for more discs...

They put enough clutch plates to handle the torque required. More plates waste money and make it shift hard. Most people, though not those on these forums, would not like the way it shifts with too many plates.

Yeah, modulating the shifts gets REAL tricky with too many plates, I'd imagine.

It'd probably be prone to shuddering during shifts, or just way too hard.
