Great thing being done in my area today.

The Humane Society of South Mississippi along with the Gulfport Police Department are microchipping our pets free of charge today. The service normally costs $15 plus the registration fee for the central clearing house.
I just got 3 of my dogs done

not trying to be funny here on one of the cable stations they said they were considering microchipping people.. on the chip would be your name, address, allergys, and medical conditions etc so that if you were found unconsious or in an accident or something they could help you without hurting you in the process

Hey jimmy have you found the data recorder in your truck yet? You know the one that the lawyers can use in court showing throttle position, speed, G-forces and other things that were happening at the time period of an accident.

I like the idea of my dog being chipped as it will help to recover him should he get lost. Any hunter who uses dogs should have it done.

I located the box, and started to take it out, and then a black helicopter started circling my house. Once I stopped trying to take it out, it went away. Scary

Chipping is fine.

Problem is, some municipalities are making it compulsory if you want a dog license, and normally it's a requirement to have a dog license. What's dumb about that is that, like I said, chipping is fine, but tatooing is better. Anyone can read a tatoo, but you gotta have a fancy schmancy chip reader to read the chip. And how dare abunch of government-control-freaks make it a legal requirement that you have your dog surgically altered to be legal.

Helifixer that's why free is so good.
Fred I think that tattoos are good but my black lab thinks that until they get white ink if won't do him much good.
And Jimmy If you did get it out it will just send a gps signal out telling on you.

Either way that's a great deal!
We'll be doing a microchipping clinic for Dogs, Cats and other pets the 19th.
We've worked out a deal with the Vet & vendor (HomeAgain) where we can do it for $25 which covers all disposables and a lifetime registration for online coverage.

I hope it goes well so we can more easily identify owners to reunite them with their pets if they are lost or stolen.
Unfortunately, most owners who allow their dogs to roam can't even be bothered to abide by the law and get them vaccinated and licensed.
And many of those will not retrieve their animal when informed that the pet cannot, under State law, be released until the animal is in compliance.
We even offer to transport their pet to the vet for shots and waive the fines.

I don't think chipping should be a requirement. Hopefully our state and local government will never become so intrusive.

In NYC they are trying to pass a law that makes it illegal to own a pitbull and there was talk to make all pets neutered to get a license...seems to me that is a bit insane too but hey what do i know
