Need tiny tires for a 3.45 geared 96 4cyl

It's a 96 Ranger 2.3 M/T with 3.45 gears, stock tire size is 225/70r14. They have a 26.45" diameter. Is there a medium aggressive tire, like cooper ASTs, that come in atleast a 6 ply construction. I don't mind going with a larger rim size, but need to stay close the 26.45 diameter.

I've looked all around, but no matter what I try it looks like I'm stuck with 4 ply, or car tires.

You can purchase radial trailer tires in that size, with 6 ply construction.
But they probably say "For trailer use only"

That is getting to be a hard tire size to find with any choice. Why do you need the 6ply?

Well the dang P-metrics that are on there are too soft for cornering and bounce like a jack rabbit. I dunno, I think I'm just going to settle for Cooper AST's in 225/70r14 in a STD load rating.

you would be better off to re-gear to 3.73 or 4.10 then you could go with a bigger tire and be in the same driveability range as stock. there is alot more tire options with a 235/75-15 or 31/10.50-15 size. really not much choices in 14" rim sizes.

I think Firestone still makes the Firehawk for 14 inch rims, they have a little meat. Otherwise, you'll have to go up to 15 inch rims, you can always get the spedo gear from a 4x4 Ranger or an exploder to correct your spedometer error, I plan to when my current 14's wear out.
