I need a new Truck
I will soon be in the market for a new truck. I am looking at a F-150 Supercrew 4x2 with the 5.4 v8.
My problem is I don't know whether to buy an '08 with the current incentives or wait til the 2009 model comes out. I do know that I want my next truck to be capable of running a mid 15 sec quarter mile time. I hear trucks are for pulling, but please understand that MINE will be for running!
Would a 2008 with an AF1 intake, Magnaflow cat back, SCT tuner, and 4.10 gears get me close to my goal or would I be better off waiting for the 2009 that's a few hundred pounds lighter and has 10+hp/25+lb-ft and a 6 speed tranny? thx for you opinion

I hope your right about the new F-150 being faster though. the current transmission needs some serious shiftpoint work that can only be solved with tuning.

I actually got to sit in a 09 ram that was sitting on a lot last weekend. I have to say I was pretty impressed on the looks of it. The interior is 10x better than previous models. bigbigced I say you should wait for the 09's to hit the lots then test drive both. If you like the 08 better then I am sure you will get it for next to nothing.

I live in Las Vegas and when we have Midnight Maddess at the local drag strip, there are people who like to race trucks. I have a 06 Roush (stage 2) myself and I am not biased to ford products. The fastest trucks are Lightnings and SRT10 Rams (when the have proper tires and can hook up, or else its all wheel spin). I have never seen a stock 5.4 F150 run a 15 at the traps. Mind you that Las Vegas drag strip is at 2500 ft and not sea level. My stang is not blown but runs mid to high 13's with bolt ons. Fastest Lightning is in the 12s and i've seen Nissan Titans run 15s basically stock (not sure why they are fast). One surprise to me was a TrailBlazer SS running high 12s low 13s (obviously modded)

SUPERDUTY - fyi - reaction time has nothing do with your clocked ET.
Your reaction time is the time elapsed from when the light turns green to when your front tires break out of the staging beams. Your ET starts clocking at that time - when the front tires leave the staging beams.
For example, if you sit at the line for 5 seconds after the light turns green, but your truck runs 15.0 sec from when you break out of the beams to the finish, your ET on your time slip will read 15.0 (with a 5 second reaction time), not 20.0 sec.
