I have a collection of pictures from when I wintered over in Juneau, AK 2004-2005.
It didn't start to snow (at sea level) till Dec. 26 and then the snow didn't stop for Five Days!
You could see that the snow was coming for Juneau is in a fjord area and the mountain horizon was at about 3000 feet.
Each morning you could see where the snow-line was on the sides of those mountains.
Had to dig out to get to work, had to dig out to get back into my place.
Side roads were getting narrower and the snowbanks taller.
Every night the road crews used pay-loaders to dig out the intersections and 18-wheeler dump trucks to carry the snow to the ocean.
I was told that that was a nice snow storm, as often they get snow by night and freezing rain by day for manys days straight and then when you get back from work you can't shovel it.
