Looking at a 2007 Navi with 100,000 Miles on the OD

SO Im finally looking at picking up a second truck and found a nice looking and clean 2007 Navigator Ultimate Long Wheel Base.

My questions are what should I look for, what kind of performance can I do to the truck. 300HP seems a little LOW for a truck this size so Im wondering what can I do that will make a worthwhile improvement..

Thinking of a tuner, exhaust, and cold air intake whats the best brands to run with.

Thanks again

If you don't like the performance, get another vehicle. Dumping a bunch of money on exhaust, tuners, etc. is not going to make a 6K pound tank scoot like a Porsche. You will get a nominal increase. Even if you squeezed 20hp, a 6% increase will hardly be felt or worth it.

Granted Im not expecting it to be Porsche, although I do like how the extra work I've done on my Excursion and the results I had from them.

What I am looking into doing is picking up a 2009 Navigator after finding out that the 2007 I found according to the CarFax has had a $19,000 claim back in 2009. So found another Navi. Butttt..

Sooo what Im looking at is basic upgrades for the time being,
  • SuperChips Tuner
  • K&N Cold Air Intake
  • Exhaust manifold back

The thing I am trying to make my mind up about is what brand and manufacture for a Supercharger.. I've been looking at a few options one of which is using the 5.4L Supercharger off a GT500, along with a few other options from Edelbrock, KennyBell and Hennessy. They all have wide varying power outputs but I plan on doing it since the 300 HP is SOOO Slow, and I refuse to go to the Yukon or Escalade for a 400HP GM POS.

Edelbrock Navigator Supercharger

Hennessey Supercharger Navigator

Just wondering if anyone on here has done this yet or has any recommendations. I'm leaning more towards the Edelbrock kit since it seems pretty complete.

Least you are on the right track looking at positive displacement blowers. Problem I see if not necessarily the lack of power but reliability at this point. You already have 100k on the drivetrain and now you are talking about adding extra stress on it. These run of the mill Mod motors have hypereutectic piston & connecting rods, the rods being the weakest link out of the rotating assembly. Seems like most out there say you run into the danger zone when you push more than 450hp (not to be mistaken with bhp which is hp - 20-25% drivetrain loss). So knowing this if you still go forward with it then I would have your tuner tune more on the conservative side as to ensure detonation will not happen (Hennessey doesn't state whether the kit comes with a IC so if not would stay away or confirm prior to purchasing... def. would want a kit that has a IC especially with a PD blower). Good thing is with the PD blower you'll feel that instant torque you are desiring, but again nothing is free right. At some point the rods, pistons, rings, tranny, etc etc will fail due to the extra stress on the drivetrain so go in knowing at some point that'll be an issue in the future to deal with.
