Truck running bad, not sure whats wrong it ! Please Help!

Hi, I have a 93 F-150 XLT, V8 w/ an anuto transmission.

Anyhow for the last couple years the truck has run pretty crappy, not exactly sure whats wrong with it or where to check.

What it does is when your sitting at a light, and if you give very little gas the truck will want to stall, or it will stall. If it doesnt stall it will stumble pretty badly at times.
Basically I have to hang back let traffic go so I can give it enough gas from a stop light to keep it from acting up.

A check engine light is on, I took it to autozone and had them scan it and it came up with an EGR code, from what I have seen and read a EGR code should not effect performance so I am not sure where to look. I have changed the plugs and wires and nothing has changed at all.

Any suggestions on where to look would be appreciated.

Thanks
Rich

A faulty EGR valve can cause the symptoms you describe. And since it has been identified as a problem, it makes sense to fix it first.

For the price of the plugs and wires you probably could have replaced the EGR valve.
