how to dissamble my rear axle?

Today i started to dissamble my rear axle. I removed the half shaft? and got the disc off which is on the differential. I tried to remove the complete differential but I don't know how. How should I do this? What kind of rear axle do I have?

Axles need to slide out, as they engage inside the differetial.

You will either have a clip inside the diff held in by a bolt, or you'll have to remove the 4 bolts on each housing end (that hold the backing plates in) and pull the axles out (if the bearing have a retainer).

Edit:

PS...once the axles are out,

BEFORE you pull the bearing caps, ping them for side to side and location, so they go back in the same place and are oriented correctly.

Thanks for all this information.

I tried to get the centre thing out, I got the halfshafts out and unscrewed the two brackets which hold the centre but I can't get the centre out.

How shoud I do this?

Be sure you mark the caps (brackets) so you can put them back on the same sides and in the same orientation.

The center member should come straight back and come out. It is a snug fit on the side bearings and may take a little prying to get it out. bring both sides out evenly so it doesn't bind up tighter. Be sure to keep the bearing races and spacers on the same sides they are on now. It is heavy when it comes out.

The ring gear is actually bigger than the case opening, thats why the talk about the spreader.
It can be removed by using a heavy prybar and CAREFULLY applying steady pressure.
I've done it using the ring gear teeth and praying yes I said praying while prying.
And I have used 2x4's stacked across the housing and a cable run thru the ring gear.
Mark everything with a punch so that you can tell left from right and up from down.
Count the shims on either side.
be careful and watch your teeth and fingers.
