what do you do with the truck? ie, use the whole bed alot? tow a fifth wheel? haul stone?
do you want a little noise or the "hey here i come" noise?
it depends on what you do with the truck and what you want to say with it. i have run stock, 4 inch, and 5 inch in the stock routing, and 6 inch stacks.
of all the set-ups i love the stacks the best. the only drawback i have is that you lose the full 8 foot bed use. it has no effect on me but someone that hauls alot of 4x8 sheets of stuff wouldnt want stacks.
if you want to stick with a traditinal routing then i liked the 5 inch the best. no performance gains over the 4 inch that i could notice but the sounds out of the 5 inch is much deeper and throatier than the 4. and the 5 inch tail pipe looks much meaner than the 4 does. as for drone, i didnt see any difference in 4 or 5 inch. the stacks have a very light amount of drone at 1900-2000 rpm but its very suttle

thanks for the compliments, she's all bark, not much bite...lol will outrun a mostly stock 6.0. passed that she's just a hard pulling machine.
for the air intake do the 6637 modification, total cost should be about 40 to 50 bucks and maybe 20 minutes of your time. you need a 6637 air filter available from napa stores for around 30-40 bucks, a 45 degree 4 inch exhaust elbow, and 2 constant tension clamps.
this is your end result. (this is an old pic, i will take current ones tomarrow since i'm off work)

i dont know of anyone that sells a cheap 5 inch exhaust for our trucks, what you can do is get the cheap 5 inch kit for a 99-03 truck. the only reason they wont fit our years is the downpipe. you can put the 3 inch round downpipe in instead and step up to the 5 inch pipe with only a little modifications. for my 5 inch kit i used pipe off big trucks and welded my own hangers on the pipe in the stock locations. didnt take long at all to fabricate. but if you arent interested in that then the 4 inch is still nice.

here is the 3 inch round downpipe to 4 inch straight exhaust on my truck.

YouTube - cold day truck start
the turbo whistle at idle is much more pronounced on hot engines, and it was much better running the 5 inch exhaust but you can still hear it on the first 4 inch video a little bit
