What in the world would give you that crazy idea? The 6.0 does have more power, but not when it's in the shop time after time after time for the repeated issues it's got. Once your warranty is out.......so is your wallet. Dont do it!

i wouldn't recomend it. They have too many problems. I'm no expert on the 7.3, but from what I have learned here at FTE, it is the best diesel that
Ford has ever manufactured. Someone else with a little more knowledge than myself should chime in soon.

Why? Wait do you think you'll gain? When I was shopping for my truck I asked my buddy Eric (25yr Ford mechanic) about 7.3 or 6.0.

Quote "If you buy a 6.0 I'll hit you upside the head. Repeatedly. HARD."

There are plenty of issues with either setup, but overall the 7.3 has shown to be more reliable. Not as fast, etc. but less headaches and overall a better package.

I'd only take a 6.0 if it was a 2007, but I wouldn't give up the 7.3 for it, no way.

We all love our 7.3 and Im going to stick with it forever, and the 6.0 has had a reputation for not being a realiable motor with numerous (sp) problems.

What has you thinking about trading it in? the 6.0 might be best for you (after all the injectors, turbos, headgaskets etc etc are fixed).

You are in the wrong forum asking this question, I don't think a single one of these guys will tell you to trade your 7.3 for a 6blow. A CPS fits in the glove box better than injectors and turbo's.

Wink

I absolutely wouldn't take a 6.0 or even a brand new 6.4 even up for my low mile LATE '99 F350 w/ 7.3!!!!

This kid here in the shop bought a 6.0, regardless of how many times I tried to talk him out of it. Out of the 4 months he has owned it, he has only driven it three weeks. He has it right now, but is taking it back in next week. They have put 2 motors in it, they have done the head bolt upgrade, they have replaced the variable turbo, they have replaced the up pipes, and i am not sure what else. I can only guess that once all of this is taken care of, he will have a decent truck..

Is there anything wrong with the 7.3 you have now? Why do you need a lower mileage one?

Watch the videos to be better informed.

This is 1 of 6 - 6.0 vs 7.3 LINK Watch all 6. The 6.0 has its good points and it's bad points.

Hmmmm... i'll agree, that's one sharp looking truck! But "never seen snow"..... ummm, the guy lives in PA. WHY would you have a 4x4 truck and NOT use it in the snow??? Possible I guess, but my BS meter is going off on that one. A professional detailing could get it looking like it does in those pictures. And they use salt, etc. to melt the snow back there, so there might be rust issues.

Still, that is one gorgeous truck!

I had a Ford tech that loved the 6.0s because they gave him more work. Also same with the local International dealership.
