Hey, I'm new,I was turned on to this sight by my brother in law. I have a 1976 E-150 351W with 130K, auto trans. Yesterday I was driving for about 30 miles (so the engine was warm) when it just cut out. I tried to start it a couple of times no luck. About 15-20 minutes later it fired up again, ran for about two or three minutes then died again. I put in a new fuel pump and fuel filter and it fired right up again. I drove it about a mile this morning no problems. Then a couple hours later I had been driving for about ten minutes (3-4 miles) and again it dies. No luck starting after three or four tries. About 10 min. later it fired right up, ran about a minute, then died. I would appreciate any suggestion that anyone might have as to what might be going on! Thanks! Aaron
perhaps the coil is bad, are you getting fuel into the carb during the no start tries? is the motor warming up properly? when where the plugs, wires cap and rotor replaced last and has the carb been rebuilt or messed with latly?
I'm going through the same thing right now with my 66 with a 351W and electronic ignition. The wires inside my distributor were old and basically fell off. I was getting intermittent spark and she wouldn't start. I have replaced the distributor, wires, plugs, fuel lines, filter (not the pump, yet), and still not starting. I'm now going back through all of the electrical connections. I would do the same on yours. Good Luck!
