Dana 44 trac loc question?

I have a chance to get a dana 44 trac loc posi unit from a guy for pretty cheap and was wondering if it fits the TTB front end on a 94 Bronco/F150. This unit came out of a straight axle Jeep. It is 30 splines just like the TTB. Any help will be appreciated.

If your TTB, what ever that is, is a Dana 44 it will fit. May have to change side gears, most likely not.

Dana 44 trac loc question?

One more thing, you need to be sure that the gear ratio's of both units are the same or at least of the same range. The 44 use one carrier or gear ratios from 3.73 an up ie 4.10, 4.27 4.88 ect, another below 3.73, ie 3.54 3.08

Dana 44 trac loc question?

Did you eventually get that D44 trac loc from the jeep and put it in your truck? I am about to do the same thing and i want to be sure it will work out. The only thing that makes me wonder is that since the ford uses the dana 44 as a front axle it uses reverse rotation gears, and i just wasnt sure if the carriers were different between them too. I was looking at new ones and i se separate ones listed for standard and reverse rotation, so it leads me to believe that a trac loc from a jeep may not be interchangeable. I was just wondering if you were able to do it. thanks.

Dana 44 trac loc question?

bad news....its not going to fit. the short stub axle on the passanger side uses a c clip to retain itself. a jeep trac loc won't have the indent milled into the side gears for the c clip. you could change the side gears, but that adds up rather quickly. The side gears are fairly expensive.

Thanks for clearing that up, you saved me from making a very expensive mistake. I was cautious about listening to everyone say they are the same because after seeing that dana listed separate carriers for standard and reverse rotation, i knew there had to be a difference. Thanks for clearing that up.
