In order to be street legal, the most that a chip can do is to alter the timing & injection at Wide Open Throttle, and raise the redline. So you're unlikely to feel any difference an more "normal" speeds.
Chips are very generic and old school. A lot of us have used and swear by the bama engine programer. It holds 3 tunes and was good for 14 rwhp on my 04 4.0 and 20 foot pounds of torque. It will also correct the speedo for a tire or gear swap and tighten up the shift points on an automatic. You just plug it in to the port under the dash, push a couple of buttons and your off to the races. It returns to the stock settings just as easy. However most programers are for OBD II equiped vehicles, but well worth the money and makes a difference you can feel with the butt dyno.
