My truck doesn't like my 140v IDM....

Lately my truck has been starting and running like total ***, very lopey on startup (stock program), chugs a nice plume of white smoke for 15-30 seconds and then continues to blow blue smoke for over 2 minutes if i let it sit and idle. If i slowly ease out the driveway and down the road the injectors will hammer and knock verrry loudly... Yeah looks like a compression issue, GP's are good. I hooked AE up a few weeks ago and found out the gray CPS causing #3 & #8 to be 3-5% out on the RV test, and just today i swapped in an old black CPS, and ALL of the cylinders won't budge off 0.0%, got that fixed. However the truck won't rev clean in neutral, and sounds like it's on the drivethru tune constantly, injectors are very quiet. Even dad who knows 0 about diesels came down and said "damn i wouldn't want to ride with you after hearing how that thing sounds!" which is convincing....

The CCT test popped up p1298 IDM failure, which kind of explains it all, It was fine before i had the IDM modded (sent it to Cookie after i muffed it up pretty bad and he did get it fixed and 140'd.) Now i am looking for a 120v stock idm to swap in and see if it makes any difference. Ive got a video of cold startup on my phone but its not that great quality, i'll try to see if i can stick it up here.

Yeah, I never liked the sounds of the IDM 140 mod.....

Scared of burning the injectors out or something..
Besided, even on a stock IDM, the injectors can run out of fuel quickly enough right?

Keep us posted. I haven't done mine yet, I was contemplating that for tomorrow morning. It will be interesting to find out what is causing the issues for you.

I have had zero issues with my IDM mod. It revs more responsively than the stock IDM. There could be an issue with your IDM than is not related to the mod itself.

it probably won't matter Kris. That code is very common on a Modded IDM

Almost, time flies when you are having fun. Yeah, the 7.3 came out 'fore you was in kindergarten.

Sure has, do the math. It's funny 'cause in 1993 we ordered two trucks. One we got in about two weeks had a turbocharged IDI 7.3. The other, we waited three months for and had the 'new and improved' PSD. Damn I loved that IDI truck!
