The past few times I've been off-roading, my power steering system is starting to show its weakness. I have a locker in the front and 37" tires. I think the added stress of the locker is too much for the original pump to handle. My pump is almost dead, it groans and it leaks even worse than it used to.

Does anyone have experience converting over to a Saginaw pump? I have heard that the Saginaw is stronger and quieter. I am specifically looking at pumps and steering boxes from AGR, so if anyone has bought their stuff I would like to know how satisfied you are.

An AGR rock ram would be cool, but I don't think I need to get that extreme yet.

'87 F250HD 4x4, 6" Skyjacker, 37" Dirt Grips, front locked Dana 60.

 

Simply go to a junkyard and get the power steering pump, brackets and hoses for an Econoline with the same engine and about same year. Bolts right on. I did a 300 six F150 4x4 with a saginaw pump. Total bolt on. No more squeal, one finger steering.

 

Thanks guys. I found brackets from an E350 tonight, and ordered an AGR pump from Summit. Hopefully everything goes together well.
