Greetings!
I stumbled across this site while searching for '53 F-100 information.
A little over 23 years ago, my Dad purchased a '53 F-100, 6 cyl with a Fordomatic. Pretty solid from a metalwork standpoint, but some problems with the engine. After it sat for most of 9 years or so, he started trying to fix it up (paint, trans rebuild). Later, after a cracked block, he had the 6 replaced with a used 351 W. More problems followed with that (overheating, oiling, etc.).
Dad passed away in Nov '03 and the truck sat since then. I am now in the process of trying to re-animate this treasure. The overheating is solved (electric fan, 160 thermostat replaced the 195), but still wrestling with other problems. Every time I get one thing solved, another crops up.
If only I had more time and money. LOL!

Welcome SmoKerch, glad you found this site and it`s really awesome to hear you`re keeping your dad`s '53 F-100!
It`ll be so sweet once you get the 351 W and while it`s common when getting one problem sorted another crops up but once done it`ll be well worth it.
