That steering box was sold probably 8 years ago or more now... The 2wd steering boxes have a long sector shaft that make them more prone to breaking off road. Not to mention the leafs hit the end of the sector shaft when compressed... Definitely not something I'd swap in. BUT, my main gripe here was the absolute hack job they did putting the thing in & the way they weakened the frame completely. Still, the saginaw box has been in since 2009 and I finally did the crossover stuff in 2013. Yes, my project is taking FOREVER!
Muuuuch better now than the CRAP that was on there!

Nice work! Always worth while when you're making improvements to the original design, or even other people's hack work! Keep it up!

Time for another recap of the last few weeks "work". In typical fashion this is crawling along, but hey, even tiny progress is better than none...

5-25-17 I did a test fit on the finished fuel filter mount so as to cut the fuel hose & get the push lock fittings on. Here's how the feed line looks coming to the lift pump now. Cleaner setup than I had before so I am happy.

6-1-17 I got my filter mount installed permanently (with the shorter fuel filter on for now) and started looking at cleaning up the plumbing runs

Next I finally got around to another small thing I had been lazy about for a while. Any guesses here? Winner gets an internet high five!

6-2-17 I had noticed my nice aluminum tank was oxidizing a bit sitting out in the elements a mile or 2 from the beach so I cleaned it up a bit & threw some paint at it. Flat black will make it a little more stealth...

Later that night I finally got the stainless tabs on the headlights & got those bolted up. I had mistakenly gotten the wrong size bolts when i had finally gone to the hardware store so I had to go back & get the right stuff to do this

6-7-17 (last night) I busted out the old bead roller & put some beads in the intake tube finally. I had been lazy about getting to this as well. Oh and when I say old on the bead roller I mean it. This thing is 40 years older than I am (like most of my favorite tools) and still going strong of course!

Correct. Battery cables is what is new in that pic. The purpose is what I figured people wouldn't know, or at least wouldn't remember from when I talked about it in 2011 or whenever!

Fuel filler is new-ish but been sitting like that for a while. That is one of the next "bigger" things I will get to.

Thanks man! Maybe one day I'll be like you & actually get to drive mine!!!

On another note, I was going to post a couple more photos of the minimal work I've gotten done, but photosuck-it has now decided it wants people to pay if they are going to link photos to another website. All at the paltry sum of $400 / yr!!! Pardon me but EFF that! Sorry guys, but looks like photoSUCKSit has killed this thread...

So I found a partial work around for this when trying to see the photos in a couple other build threads where it seems guys may be in the same boat as me. You click on one of the missing photos above. It'll take you to the photoSUCKit website, and the "photo" in question (it'll still show as a you need to upgrade notice). Above the "photo", but if you click on the username it'll show you the album. You can't click on a photo & see them bigger, but you can at least see what photos are there.

Wow, just noticed this on my thread! I hated Photobucket before, but thats the last straw! Looks like my thread is the same, all pictures are dead.

I'm going to go open an Flicker account right now.

I never could get photo bucket to work on my old puter, I was told on another forum to try Postimage.org ? free image hosting / image upload ? Postimage.org
You don't have to setup a account and it works quite well for me.

So the end has come... Unfortunately and sadly I am listing the truck for sale. It is already on most of the Facebook groups for dentsides. NOT what I want to do at all, but life is life.

I've very sad! But it's life. I think I have a serious buyer & a deposit coming. Just made it that much more real for me and made it that much harder.

As for the '70 - my signature is way old. '70 is gone, '74 supercab is gone and now the crew will join them

The '72 Alfa romeo will hopefully get some love & finally be driveable, & my '38 pickup may get started as well. We shall see though. A bit part of the reason the crew is leaving is I have no time to work on it. I have a feeling that'll be the same for a while = no other projects getting any time either. I'm hoping that will change & I can sneak some time now & again.

Did that buyer end up coming thru or is your crew still for sale?

I don't see it on Craiglist but I haven't been closely paying attention lately and didn't see anything posted on a quick scan of a few facebook dentside groups I found just now.
