cold weather fast idle questions

Hey guys,

I have a couple questions about the fast idle on the 7.3 in cold weather. When did they start using this? How cold does it have to be before it fast idles? Any info on this feature would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Can't answer the first question(what year they started). But mine kicks in somewhere around 45 degrees.

I am using the valve as a EBPV exhaust brake.

It was about 50 degrees here the other morning when I started mine and it never kicked in. Made me wonder if mine had the feature.

I does,

But there are certain parameters that have to be present in order for it to engage. Truck has to be in park, brake pedal not engaged, I believe the IAT has to be blow 32 degrees and the oil temp below a certain amount. Someone will come along and post the exact specifications I'm sure. They are posted at least 10 times a year once fall/winter starts.
