Cool Rear End Question

I have a 05 F350, 4DR, Long box. I dont understand whats going on with the rear end. When I go around a corner on dry pavement and punch it, the inside wheel spins, but the outside wheel doesnt. I thought when the one wheel looses traction, the other wheel kicks in to help. Is there something im missing or is it broken, and would it be wise to make it a solid rear axle so both tires spin at the same time, or I have also heard of an OX manuel cable actuated locker, is this a good idea. PS. the computer is frome quebec so I dont know how to get question mark made, stupid thing.

Thats Fords awesome limited slip for ya.... my truck did the same thing until I had gears put in it and had them put more clutches in it. I read somewhere that most trucks come with only 3 clutches in it instead of the 5 they should have. If your truck is under warranty I'd take it in to Ford and complain that your limited slip doesn't work the way it should. Also if they redo it for you make sure they put extra 2 in for you.

You're asking a lot of a clutch type, stock limited slip. It is meant for low traction situations, not pitching it sideways on dry pavement.

A locked rear axle via a spool will push you off the road under the right conditions, and over time will break the axles or at the very least wear your tires oddly and provide clunk and chirp action for your driving pleasure.

More aggressive limited slip (more clutch plates), lockers like the Detroit Locker, or selective lockers like the ARB are available.
