Truck bounces side to side in ruts.

I went Muddin' today. Didn't even get stuck. When I was driving through ruts that I made(a foot and a half deep)The truck started bouncing back and forth to the side. I had to slow down for fear of breaking and axle or something. But if I got that slow I will get stuck. Why is it bouncing back an forth? Is this just normal when driving in deep ruts? I got some sweet pics, I won't be able to put them on for a while, because they are on my brothers digital camara.

What a wonderful way to spend your holiday season. I'm wheeling, mudding, fishing and getting stuck every chance I can get. I think what your trucks doing is normal for ruts like you described. Unless it's doing it on pavement But a foot and a half deep rut is a foot and a half deep.

Mine does that too, fairly soft suspension, not rock hard. Do you have sway bars? That helps reduce the problem. That just from being on unequal ground with the 4 tires it tends to rock you back and forth.

Primary rig is Green Thunder:
95' F-150 XLT 4x4, 302, 5 spd, MSD 6A, Flowmaster Exhaust, Sunroof, Clear corners w/ Diamond headlights, CD player with 2 10" subs and some 32" BFG Muds .

Check out my Gallery for a look-see.

I have sway bars. But this was bouncing really hard back and forth. I didn't have my seat belt on so I was flying over into the middle seat.
Oh well I guess its normal and nothing that i'm doing.
Thanks

Truck bounces side to side in ruts.

It's just the ruts that cause that. You're bouncing side-to-side because you're catching the edge of the rut, bouncing to the other side, and then catching that edge. After you make a set of ruts, they sometimes change depending on what kind of mud you're in and your tires may not exactly fit when you come back. It must be some pretty sticky stuff if that happens though. You probably won't have that problem in soupy stuff.

Truck bounces side to side in ruts.

that is normal especially if they are as deep as you say. its just the tires are gripping the sides of the ruts and bouncin off of one side into another. thats what makes it sooo darn fun. as long as it doesnt do it on dry pavement your truck is fine.

Truck bounces side to side in ruts.

probly just the truck trying to claw out of the rut then slipping back down. My trucks do this in ruts too, not much to woryy about as long as your nbot realy slamming it back and forth alot. It probly wont break axles. (that siad next time it happens to me ill be short an axle...)
