Want a tach in a 96 Ranger

I bought a 96 ranger with a 5-spd... a real cherry of a truck with just 47k on the odo, but it's quiet and does not have a tach, is there an instrument cluster that I could swap in with a factory tach in it?

My 93 with and auto had a tach in it, you might be able to find one in a junkyard that is in good shape with the tach in it. I don't even think you would have to buy the whole cluster, mine was actually 4 separate plates that snapped together. The tricky thing would be finguring out how to wire it to make it work. The easier, slightly more expensive way to get a tach would be to get an aftermarket one and mount it somewhere in the truck, but it sounds like you don't want to lose the factory look.

Ok, I'll look into what the cluster looks like when I try to track down why my 4-ways don't work. Say, ho DO you get to the flasher on these trucks?!?

You're right, I want to keep it stock looking, and my cluster is a little bare without it.

Sneak, since your truck has a newer design for the cluster layout than the 93, you'll need to get the whole cluster. The tach circuit should already be in the wire harness and it should allow the tach to work once the harness is plugged in to the cluster. Your 4way flasher should be down by the fuse block under the dash or over by the chime unit which is to the right of the steering column.
