Question What are used oil furnaces worth?

Switching my house from oil to natural gas this fall, and I'm wondering how much I can sell my oil furnace for. It's 9 years old, 78,000 BTU high efficiency, with a 6 year old oil tank. Any ideas?

When eventually the garage gets insulated and heated, (probably not until I build a new garage) it will be heated by burning wood.

Maybe you should buy it to heat YOUR garage.

I'll be right over,..

Actually, I went electric in my garage, flick of a switch and in a few minutes its comfortable. Got the furnace for free, but then there was that time i forgot to turn it off....., hydro bill just about killed me!

I had considered, oil, propane, natural gas, and wood for the garage but this was cheap and easy(no fuel, no chimeney) since i built the garage with a 200amp service. Oil tanks are a pain and I have no idea what the set up would be worth. Now is the time of year to sell it though.

I had heard that hi efficiency oil was actual very economical. The efficiency % is lower than natural gas but oil burns hotter so it makes up for the difference in efficiency rating. Then again, a barrel of crude oil was a lot less when I was looking into it because gasoline was nowhere near $1.30/litre.

You should have no problem selling it where you live, someone should be able to use for there home or a garage/outbuilding.
