vacuum ???

I am working on my 99 f-250 sd w/ 7.3 psd 4X4. Seal in the hubs are bad, so for test purposes I use a golf tee to plug them. I use my mighty vac pump From behind pass. battery fitting & the fitting near the dr. side frame leading to the lockouts, is bad,but another tee & now holds vacuum great.
I use my vac. gauge @ the pump & it holds 15-20 psi & shuts off.Good there.
I then use the mighty vac pump again @ the vacuum storage tank ??? (plumbed right after the truck mounted vac. pump) & it doesn't hold a vacuum---should it??? The solinoid that comes after it doesn't hold a vacuum when I use the mighty vac. pump on it. Should it ??? The red line off of it doesn't hold vacuum either

Are there diagrams for the vacuum lines on these things??

Sorry for the long post

mueckster, it sure does clear things up as to where things go. Thanks

Should the vacuum reservoir hold a vacuum if I apply vacuum w/ my mighty pump & have the other fitting plugged??
The same question about the PVH soleniod, should it hold a vacuum?
Is there such a thing as a repair kit/fitting for the 90 degree fitting that leads to the Dr. side vacuum hose leading to the lock out, mine doesn't hold vacuum, but does w/ a golf tee

Thanks

Yes, the vacuum reservoir and PVH solenoid should both hold a vacuum when tested. An auto parts store should have the fittings to repair the vacuum line.

Thanks again, whith everything hooked uo & leaks plugged(lock outs) the pump runs for maybe 20-30 sec & shuts off, but if I have my vac. gauge hooked to the pump, it pulls about 15-20" of vac & shuts off. Does the fact it runs 20-30 sec & then shuts off seems normal??

Yes. this is normal. The vacuum pump will shut off once sufficient vacuum is stored (no leaks).
