In addition to what the guidelines say, just know that you'll need to devote a little time and effort to start things rolling. When the participation level in the chapter increases, you'll have a good feeling knowing that you helped to make it happen.

Getting the chapter going is really tough work, but that first meet is worth all the effort you put into it.
You'll feel trapped and useless at times because you can come up with all sorts of things to do, but members wont always be able to do them, or you might not be able to yourself.
So, you have to take things in stride, and keep communication open with your members.

As both Steve and William have mentioned there will be tough times and you will wonder "why am I doing this???" I have had that feeling myself at times. But looking at the bright side, I personally get great satisfaction in helping to rebuild my chapter and take great pride in knowing that I have played a vital part in that happening. It is not something that will happen overnight, or in a week, or in a month. It will take time.
As Steve mentioned, it will take a little effort to get the members active again and to recruit new members, but once the ball gets going it will become easier and then you can delegate duties to other members to help keep them interested.
You will not have to do this on your own as all of the chapter leaders and mods are here to assist if you ask.
