Headlight switch, what's the secret?
Ok, I am trying to replace my headlight switch on a '76 F150 4x4. Now I have spent way to much time on this thing without results. I have read past threads on this, but I still can't get this thing out.
I disconected the harness, took out the **** like I am supposed to. What must I do next? Is there a nut on the front side that I must take off? If so I cannot get to it because the wiper **** set screw is mangled. I can't take off the wiper **** which means I can't take off the bezel that is around the instrument panel. Am I doing this all wrong? Why is something that is supposed to be so simple, so hard? Maybe it's me! This thing just wont come out.
Please help, I need my headlights back!
Thanks,
Jake

Of course there is a nut on the front side of the switch its behind the bezel, are you sure your wiper **** is held on buy a set screw? most are held on by a spring clip of sorts, just look for a notch on the wiper **** and using a very small allen wrench put the short end of the l shaped allen wrench in the slot and pull forward, if nothing else just pull the wiper **** off and go to the junkyard and get another one probably free or 50 cents, what year is the truck ?

The truck is a 76, and yeah the **** is held on by a screw. It's on the side of the ****. whoever took it off before or put it on for that matter mangled up the slotted screw. So it's stuck. I guess I can ripe it off, but I don't like that idea. But I am getting tired of it, so maybe I will!

Well I got fustrated with it so I drilled out the set screw. It must not be original. It was hard to drill that thing out at that angle. I am 6'4 so my back was folded in half while doing it. Never the less, it's out! Now I can finish it, and see in the dark.
Thanks otto!
