I got a set of chevy 3/4-ton outers for my 74 f-100. good-bye drum brakes! does anybody know if the spindles and backing plates will fit my knuckles? if i have to use the chevy knuckles and stub shafts, is the tie rod taper the same, or will i have to do some steering fab work? i know someone has done this!

I think the chevy 3/4 ton backing plates and calipers will work with ford 5 lug hubs/rotors. Got a good deal on a 1/2 ton ford axle with 3/4 ton ford outers for that one. Incidentally the 10.25 sterling from 80-97 style trucks bolt into dents. Im sure they'll fit bumps too. Just need the larger diameter u-bolts.

I know the late 70's D44hd 8 lug knuckles and outter parts will fit a late 70's D44 half ton. It's the earlier D44's (like the 70 model I have here) that you have to watch for as u-joint sizes are different as well as some of the knuckle parts. If it's just a drum to disk conversion you want, the popular conversion on the 1/2 ton stuff is to keep the drum spindles but swap over to chevy 1/2 ton caliper brackets and calipers using the later 78 and up hubs/rotors. It's a bolt on deal and failry straight forward to do. The only thing on that is it will keep you at a 5x5.5 bolt pattern
