I am thinking about buying a 2006 F-350 King Ranch. On the passanger side on the bottom left of the glove box there is a like a plastic hook molded into into the dash. It looks like its to hang something. What is it? It doesnt tell you in the owners manual and the owner doesn't know either.

 

Going to guess, but I am thinging a small trash bag...

 

Ah the mystery hook!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Most use it for a trash bag and the ladies hook their purse to it.

 

hey ive got a xlt 05 and its got the hook in it also, I just use it for a trash bag.

 

Seems like a big waste of space

 

Yeah it is a waste of space but not really sure what they cld put there or what it wld be good for mabye a small tv lol

 

Earlier trucks, like my early bird 99, have an ash tray there. It switched to the hook when the ash tray got moved into the cup holder.

Yep, it used to be the ash tray. Then someone at Ford noticed that for most people to reach that ash tray from the driver's seat they had to lean so far it made it hard to see out the front windshield. It was a big safety issue so they quickly removed the ash tray and couldn't think of anything better to put there so they put in the trash hook (which is pretty useless). I think everyone pretty much forgot about it when they redesigned the 05 interior so they just kept it the same. You can actually take the trash bag hook out and replace it with an ash tray if you want, all of the screw holes are still in the same place. It is hard to find them in some of the newer interior colors though, most people just paint it themself.

The 08 interior no longer has the trash bag hook (as far as I know).

 

I can't seem to find a trash bag hook in my 2008 King Ranch, I sure with there was one though.......

I've heard of guys using it as a CB mike hanger too. Me...I've never hung a bag on it...it's a King Ranch! Now if I found a nice leather bag that might be different!
