I’m replacing my rear main oil seal
in my R.V ( Firan Raven 1994 ) It’s a Ford 460 engine ! Without pulling the entire engine out ! But only pulling transmission and raising the engine enough for clearance of the oil pan to access the rear main cap ! I have been only able to get just enough clearance to back of the oil pan to pull the rear main cap ! ( but oil pan not fully out) In order to extract the top main seal would I have to totaly pull out the entire oil pan and loosen all the main crank caps so to extract and install the top rear main seal ? Or is the top rear main seal loose enough when pulling the rear main cap ? Also do I need to add sealant between the top and bottom cap ? Probably should go to the ford 460 forum. Those dudes know every single thing about this situation.

 

It was 1983 I believe when they switched to a full circle rear main on the 7.5
Your 1994 needs the trans removed for access to the rear main oil seal
Check Autozone or a parts house to be sure

This is a 95 460. It is a 2 piece rear main seal.

 

I stand corrected the pic shows a cull circle but if you go to buy one it shows a 2 piece seal even on the newest ones
