Just had TSB 8-14-3 performed by the dealer to reprogram PCM! Tranny seems much better, & no more neutral RPM's at 25 MPH!......I highly recommed this TSB be done!...........

Can you tell any difference in the shift points? Does the 3-4 shift later? I don't have the problem, but mine won't 3-4 shift until 30 mph.

All I can say is that the tranny seems more crisp between shifts & no more RPM's flaring up at 25 MPH! So much better!...........

Reviving this, the 08 I bought does this.

Is there a way to tell before and after flash software?

I would hate to take this in and ask for it to be done and it already is, but failed to improve anything.

Give a Ford dealer your vin number and they should be able to tell you if the computer flash was done.

Ah did not think of the service records, I assume they can see all done by any ford dealer?

I have this same problem on my 08 as well. Been going on for a while now. How much did it cost for them to fix this issue?

2006 F-150 King Ranch Transmission is toast

My F-150 has 126000 miles on it and It looks like Im going to have tohave the transmission rebuilt to the tune of $2500. Truck is in excellent shape otherwise. AM I crazy to put this kind of money into a 7 year old truck? My mechanic figures that by the time the inspection is due it will need some brake work and various other work that could go around $500. I do like not having a truck payment but $2500-3000 is equivalent to 6 " new Truck" payments. Appreciate any feedback

IMHO, I always look at the history of a vehicle and when the monthly repairs equate (consistently) to a new car payment, then it's either time to buy new or do a ground up rebuild.

I typically keep our vehicles for 15-20 years....a few years ago my wife's AC compressor died (1997 cougar).....I was out of town, told here to take it a a mechanic we trust....they advised the car was not worth fixing ($800 total)....I said to my wife....
1. Do we plan on selling the car soon (no)
2. Is there anything else wrong with the car we know of (no)
3. Do you want to drive a vehicle to work (Los Angeles) with no AC (no)
4. Do you not like your car anymore (no)
5. Will not doing this repair contribute to the resale value (repair vs potential selling price) of the car (no)

The answer was very clear, fix the car.

What engine do you have 4.6 or 5.4? TSB 8-14-3 says its for the 5.4. Is there one for the 4.6? Mine is an 07 f150 4.6 with the exact same problems you desribed
