7.3L non-turbo desiel push rods

Is it a problem if I took the push rods out of the heads and did not number them or keep them in a particular order? I am replacing the head gaskets and will be getting the heads machined. The truck has 133k on it.

Always best to put them back in the same place, on the same lifter/rocker arm they have worn into.

You obviously don't have that option now so just put them back in where ever.

I haven't had the pleasure of taking a 7.3L apart so check them for length differences. Intake and exhaust rods may be different in that respect so make sure you put them in the right place if they are.

Other than that you should be fine.

Oh and I always make sure none are bent just because I have them in my hand. Roll em on a flat surface real quick and make sure they are true.
