hey everyone, i just bought an 05 supercab stx 4x4 f150 with a 4.6

i love these new style trucks! it rides smoother than my 03 taurus.

whats the scoop on the 4r70w, is it a good one? when does ford recommend changing the fluid and filter? (i dont have an owners manual)

what if any problems should i look for in an 05 4.6? its got 62k miles and runs like new right now

and last but not least, i have the center seat in the front that folds down to a center console with two cup holders. if you were sitting in the back seat looking at the back of this console theres a 12v power point, and right below it theres an open square with a spring hanging inside of it. it looks like there might have been rear cup holders or something, but this panel is just missing out of the back of the center console??? can someone tell me whats supposed to go there, and where i can buy it? it might just be a blank panel for all i know....

That is in deed where the rear cup holders were. Your best bet would be to check at local junk yards and see if they have a truck like yours or a XLT in the yard. My last choice would be the dealership.

 

also at mid throttle while running lower rpms im getting a rattling noise.....if i let off the gas it quits imediately. i think it may be spark knocking

is this a common problem?? my 95 bronco 5.0 does this unless i run 93 octane

 

hey bud well i have the same truck but an 04, and i beleive ford says the trans fluid is good for life but i do mine every 30000 or so, and from what i know the trans is good, ive towed a roughly 3000lbs trailer with about 500lbs of gear in the box 1000 miles with no problems and was easy even in over drive over the canadian sheild, which is pretty hilly in most parts, as long as you not try to maintain a steady speed, if your in OD going up the hill about 1/2 half you lose speed let off the gas abit and it will stay in OD and easily make it up the hill, trans temp stayed normal well a little higher but nothing significant,and as for the mid throttle rattle im not sure dont have or ever had that problem and dont think its a common problem, does it sound like pinging?? could just be a lose heat shield or something along those lines, and x2 on the rear seat cup holders
