Ok guys I need a little help making a decision here.
I am the proud owner of 3 , 7.3l superdutys
I recently broke the tranny in my 99 f350 4x4 auto - 142K work truck pulls daily 5000lbs ( had a bully dog 6 position chip and intake)
And I also Have a 2003 f250 4x4 auto with 37K 8 inch lift and 38inch tires,(play truck) just tuned it last week and Plan to build it up a lot more in the future. So its had an easy life so far.
So what would you do -
Have a shop re build the 99 350 for 2 -3 thousand 2 year 24k mile werentee
Have ford replace the tranny for $2700 3 year 100k Warentee
Swap the tranny from the 03 in to the 99 and spend the $4100 plus on a BTS for the nicer truck ?
And if you have had experience with BTS pleasae give your input since I am in Pittsburgh pa its over 14hrs so I would have to have it shipped, I'm sure thats not cheap!
I have a BTS in my 01 (lifted on 38s). Night and day difference vs. the stock trans. Love the trans one of the best mods I've done.
I toasted my stocker with ~37,000 miles on it (apparently big tires and a heavy foot aren't are good combo). It wasn't capable of making it to BTS so I had it shipped.
It wasn't too bad to have it shipped to northern IL.
I went right past pittsburg on my way to BTS. Im in northern MD, just hop on i-70, then when you get to st louis, take 55 south, to 65, down into the edge of AR. Right when you find yourself in the middle of NOWHERE, you've found the haven called Lead Hill!
Seriously after forking over $4600, i dont have to worry about my tranny EVER again. That's what HE told me.
BTS will build your trans the way you want. Have had mine in since April. The following weekend it was in we racing down the track. If I were to trade/sell my truck, wife goes first...I would be pulling that trans out and installing it into another 7.3.
Brian will tell you Tire size, extra power, and heat will kill a trans. He can fix you right up.
Had mine shipped up here to Seattle. So, PA wouldn't be that bad.
