Made the switch to Schaeffers today!!

Well I finally got my Schaeffers series 7000 15W-40 today, what a funky color oil!! I came straight home and did an oil change. I had about 5k on my Rotella 15W-40 dino with Motorcraft filter. I switched to a Mobil 1 extended life filter with the new oil. I am hoping to extend my oil life to 7k without having to use an oil bypass filtration system.

I have a UOA ready to go to Blackstone and Im curious to get the results. Ive never run this long on dino oil in my truck. Im also going to send in a UOA when the Schaeffers hits 5k to see if the oil and/or the filter makes a difference.

While I was under the truck I had a Magnefine trans filter waiting to go in so I installed that too. And I gathered some trans fluid for a UOA just for the heck of it.

I was surprised at both the color and odor of the Schaeffers when I switched last summer, but I actually like the smell of the Scaheffers better... not quite as pungent.

Well I have been using Shell Rotella Dino for a year. I have had an OA done by blackstone every time I have changed my oil. The first time was at 5 kmiles. I got my report back and they said to extend it out to 7K miles and see what happens. The next time they said try 9k miles so I just changed it at 8800 and change(because i was going on a trip that weekend that would have put me over the 9K mark. I wanted to avoid that until OA said it was alright. I am waiting on that report to see what they have to tell me. I think with Shaeffers you should easily be able to go 12K miles and probably longer without too much concern, all other things being equal. Good luck.

I think they do, Rick... it's a transparent dark green with a hint of blackish tinge in the green. Jeremy or Rich can tell us for sure. It does have a rather pleasant odor to it, though (at least as far as motors oils go, anyway).

Are you running a bypass filtration system? ALso I wonder if my very hot and humid year round climate has something to do with it?

I am not running bypass.

Sheldon I would be shocked to find out that there weren't any Shaeffers reps in Canada.

What filter are you running? How many miles on your truck? Do you pull much?

Yes, the oil has a green die in it. It's done that way on purpose, so you'll know it's oil. Let me explain. The base stocks in Schaeffer's oil are perfectly clear, clear as water, not the golden color of most other oils. They die it green to keep someone from freaking out if they were to see a clear oil, thinking something's not right.

i have had no problems with schaffers oil. i run it in my jeep and it has 180xxx mile on it and it still runs like a champ, not strange noises from the motor. just switched the truck over and seems to smoothed out the idle a little
