When I turn on my cruise control around 70 mph then hit the coast button to knock it down to about 65 it creates a bucking for a second. I am pretty sure this is my torque converter just seeing if anyone knows.
CC has nothing to do with the TC...when you tap the coast once it lower's MPH by 3..you may feel the truck slow down then speed up just a tad to catch up with speed you selected...
I know that the TC has nothing to do with cruise but it feels like mine is slipping when I hit coast and creates a bucking it is definitely not the slowing down then catchin up just a tad.
It sounds like that may not be enough to set off the OD light, mabye the TC lockup pins or whatever it is (never had one apart before) worn out, and acting funny while engaging at first...
Its the only time that it bucks that way other then that If I am cruising along and let off its like a slight bump then the same when I get on the go peddle again but most of them do that from my experience. I would like to give you something to go on but this is the only symptom or at least that I have noticed. The other day I did get up to 208 on the trans temp in stop and go with a small boat pulling
I wonder if your cruise brake pressure sensor, on the brake fluid reservoir. When mine started going out the cruise would do strange things. Look at that sensor and see if it is leaking brake fluid. If it is you need to change it, I got mine from ford for 20.00 bucks. Comes with a pigtail to mate with the old connector.

208 degree,s doesn't sound to good, most people on here under load experience 180-190 degree,s. Haven't pulled under load yet but others will chime in on this topic!!

I wouldn't want to hold 208 constantly for long periods of time, but "visiting" 208 wouldn't be enough to fry the fluid.
