oh yeah i have trouble with the umlaut over the 'a' too......what the heck is going on?

An umlat is two little dots (..) that go above vowels (a or e usually) in some languages, German being the case here.

i'm glad thats cleared up. i thought it was that little squiggly line above the letter. wrong country.

My resource shows:
The Deer Hunter = Der Hirschjäger
The Mighty Deer Hunter = Der mächtige Hirschjäger
The Hunter = Der Jäger
I didn't notice what it was before you change it to just Jäger.
Interesting that, Deer Hunter (2 words) is Hirschjäger (1 word)
Deer and Stag both translate to Hirsch.
