If You've Greased Your 4WD Hubs
#46
I did pulled the hub assembly apart when my first one failed. You can view the pics in my profile.
The grease will enter the area between the inner and outer bearings. So, you really need to rotate the bearing several times after each time of shooting some grease into the ABS port.
Do not over grease as the pressure will force it out through some seals onto the rotors.
A new hub bearing has some initial resistance due to the bearing housing being full of grease. As the unit is worked over time, the grease will loosen up. So, shooting two or three shots then rotating the hub assembly several times and repeating this until the bearing forms a slight resistance will work just fine.
I have over 200k on my second set of front hub bearings after starting this greasing procedure.
Forgot to mention - I simply use a rubber boot from a spark plug piece and insert one end over the grease gun tip and the other smaller end into the ABS port - nice snug fit and I'm done.

This is very true,a couple years ago when I was replacing all the rotors/brakes,I was giving the wrong rotors twice by NAPA.WE get big truck parts from there too so he usually does us right as far as part numbers and so on.

If you get a significant number of those ordered where its worth your while Scott, I'll take one, just let me know, shoot me a PM. I just greased my hubs this past Monday when I swapped out my rotors, easy cheesy. Feel alot better now knowing their greased. Thanks Pop and anybody involved with this proceedure.

Thats a great idea,
I greased mine this year. But I think Mine were out the door already. I had a bit of sqeaking when I Locked the hubs and rotated them. Greasing the hubs quieted it down a bit but I'm still leery of them.
