2000 PSD 6spd SES light and running rough
My 2000 7.3 4x4 6spd man, ran fine to work today @ 30 miles and when I started today to come home my SES light came on and the truck is idling rough. I notice the roughness during hiway running also. I stoppped by Auto Zone and they ran an OBDII scanner on her and showed no codes????
I dont want to go to a dealer. Can anyone help out?
Is it maybe water in fuel or a clogged fuel bowl or line filter?
I need it for work so any help would be appreciated.
Thank you

you need to have the PCM read for codes...most code readers do not work on diesels.. it sounds like the UV wire harness may have a short in it...fallow both harness from the VC back to the IDM under the driver side inner fender..most common spot is where the wires go over the driver side VC..if they check out..pull the 9 pin plug on both CV and ohm them out..here is a pin out and spec's
Pin Out
G G I I C I I G G
G=Glow Plug +
I = Injector +
C= Injector Common
***The injectors fire with a 115VDC signal from the IDM do not pierce to wires to test.***
Ohm between "I" and "C" to test the injectors, should be less than 5.0 Ohms
To check glow plugs Ohm between "G" and battery ground should be between 0.1 and 2.0 Ohms
also i would start changing fuel filter at 10,000...i do mine at 5,000 cause of the very cold winters...

I would lean toward the short in the wiring, like stated. 20K on your fuel filter is about 10K to long IMHO, the only filter is in the fuel bowl unless someone put an inline in after market. I don't think you would have water in your fuel unless it was bad fuel, water usually only occurs from condensation in the fuel tank/lines at extremely low temperature. If you filter is plugged up replacing it may help.
