Replacement shocks for FX4?

I just bought an 02 fx4 supercab with 5.4L, AT, XLT. I like it a lot, but man does she "buck" at freeway speeds when you hit certain bumps. I think they may be the original "rancho" shocks that ford had made for these. The truck has 190K on it! I am new to the FX4 and it was just one of those spur of the moment deals that was at a really good price for a Montana truck that is actually in pretty good shape (vehicles really get the crap kicked out of them up here).

Has anyone replaced these on your FX4. I have read a little tonight and they are supposedly "heavy duty" though I have read they are not that great of a shock.

From what I can tell, it has the 9.25" rear axel with the 5.4L. I have read that some came with the class 3 towing package (whatever that entails). I have a tow package on it, but how do tell if you have the class 3?

My main goal is to get suggestions on replacement shocks for front and back on this truck. Any help is appreciated.

Try KYB's Momomax. They are excellent, best I've ever used and last for years. Installed a new set in 05' and they still work perfectly without any leaks. LT warranty. The best you'll find!

I bought Gabrial Ultra last time for my 2002 SCREW 4 x 4. They are larger OD than stock and ride nice on the highway and off road. They were $40. each.

Ditto on the Gabriel Ultras, very nice ride. Can be found on Amazon for $23.00 each. Steve(ill) is correct on the larger tube size, also a little over an inch MORE travel. My son's truck is a 98 Super Cab XLT 4X4.

I went to the KYB web site and they make it sound like the monomax would be a little overkill for a half ton. My truck is only a supcab with the short bed. I haul a pop up camp trailer and a loaded bed with gear fairly often, but nothing too big. You guys have supercrews correct? I am just wondering if the monomax might be a bit stiff on a supercab. Any thoughts?

Not at all, they ride fantastic I get compliments all the time. I have a 98' F150 SC 4x4 6.5 ft box. The best shocks you'll ever own!

Perfect! Just what I wanted to know. Not that I didn't trust any one else's opinion, but I figured that the SuperCrews were a little heavier than the supercabs. I will be ordering today.
