I too had my tailgate stolen in front of the house. All the trucks I have had and I never heard about this until I got mine taken. I wanted a new one since it is an 05 so I ordered from Ford but if you didnt have insurance it would cost $1500!! I had to pay $500! :-( Any way LOCK THE TAILGATE! Thats what I do now.

I found a used tailgate for $200 and got it painted for $200, and and got the trucked detailed, and new tires.
so a year later when the ********* ran a red light and totaled my truck...I got a premium price for the settlement...
