I Just Bought A 1977 F-250 and Found That it Has Factory Dual Battery Trays, I Have Owned A Number of These Trucks over The Years and This is The First One I Have Seen With These, Anyone Have Anymore Input on This?

I had a 1977 F150 4x4 that had dual batteries. One battery was used to run the truck the other was used to power lights in a camper. Worked good, alternator charged both batteries.

 

I picked the 2nd battery tray (driver's side) up in the wrecking yard, and it makes a great anchor point for a small (12" x 7") Harbor Frieght toolbox...

 

my grandpas 76, f-100 with a 360, auto and a full time t case had factory dual batteries

 

I bought a front clip off of a '79 F250 that was used as a utility truck; it had the factory dual battery setup. The trays were pretty rusty though, so I threw them out.

 

Mine is currently set up for dual trays.

Didn't the dual trays come standard in the Trailer Specials? Sorry, I'm no expert on any model truck other than the one I own.

 

duel trays usualy came with trailer/camper speicials hd alt wireing plugs and a 2nd seloniod that was key activated to disengage the 2nd batt so it didnt discharge when the engine wasnt running i have ordered or had 5 of these trucks that was back in the day when there was acualy room under the hood to fit 2 batts regurds joe

 

Buford (79) is a Trailer Special and came with the dual battery setup, so that's probably right. My 78 was a camper special, and didn't have the dual setup, so I'm not sure about those.

 

Dual batteries: Standard equipment on Super Camper & Trailer Specials, optional on other models.

 

Must have been an option on my 74 because I have the dual trays, and it's a custom with a 300ci.
